Frivolité, at the Euskal Museoa of Bilbao

A walk through the French court taste of the 18th century

Next Saturday June
24th, the Basque Museum of Bilbao presents the exhibition Frivolité. The
display comes to Bilbao from San Sebastian’s San Telmo Museum collection. It showcases
the attire of the French court of the 18th century in France, a high
society marked by the refined and excessive taste of that period.

The exhibition
gathers over 40 pieces between dresses, coats and other garments, and
accessories like purses and fans. All accompanied by other objects such as
magazines and picture cards. During its run on the San Telmo Museum, an interesting
short film was presented about the restoration process of the pieces.

The inauguration
takes place tomorrow (June 23rd).
