Ceci n“est pas une chausure - Esto no es un zapato - This is not a shoe
DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK
Magritte and Manzoni act as aesthetic and conceptual triggers. Asymetric and draped patterns, deconstructed but carefully taken care off so that they adapt to the form of the shoe. The project is based on the handicrafted process in the creation of a shoe. To try to blur them and to formally rethink it.
Magritte and Piero Manzoni´s acromatic surfaces served as a starting point. Their art propagate a painting without paints thus creating a disappearance of the idea of cromatism. The agression and manipulation of the canvas is elevated to the category of art, researching the limits of the work.
For this project I took into consideration the harmony between the material and the idea combining the natural beauty of the different types of skin used and paying attention to their peculiarities. The skin undergoes various processes (impregnation of oils, pressure, cuts) to obtain the drapes and textures I that I was looking for.
