The Rebirth of the Artisan
DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK
The three pieces of my collection connect ancient leather work techniques with modern technology.
In a world that is developing and expanding so quickly, most artisans have given up their trade in search of one that adapts to our fast economy and market, leaving behind and forgotten one of the world’s greatest treasures.
I was inspired by the high quality and detail put into hand-made pieces by my teacher and leather artisan Stefano Parrini from Florence, Italy.
My idea was to create an elegant and original luxury case for transporting electronics, art, or beauty products.
For my collection, I chose Oak wood and Natural Vegetable-tanned Leather from the best tannery in Tuscany, to represent the importance to value and stay connected with raw nature. For the inside I chose poplar plywood covered with white chrome leather, to combine modern materials and techniques.
