Fritz Fromm reinvents menswear tailoring to approach Gen Z

Fritz Fromm, graduated in Fashion Design by the ArtEZ University became a finalist in the 9th edition of BIAAF. His collection is composed by nine outfits and three of them were presented in BIAAF. Two pieces were inspired in office looks and the other one in streetwear.

During his degree he focused on menswear and the use of print and textile design to enhance classic men tailoring, while maintaining the original wearability and functionality . The collection presented is inspired by the constrast between the strict office wear, restricted by rules and dress codes of his father´s generation, and the more comfortable sportwear and streetwear of Generation Z.

Moreover, he tries to explore how classic menswear can be made modern again using graffiti iconography in laser-cut prints and shapes. To do this he kept the classic office proportion and items  from the office association and brought them into the sporty world of hooligans rather in subtle shapes, colors and details. For this project, he mainly used fabrics, buttons, girdles, wool blends, cottons, twills and denim, from private sellers on Ebay and from small labels, such as Humanoid, About Companions, selling or donating their leftoover fabrics. So that, over 60 % of final material were second hand.

Apart from being a BIAAF finalist, he also became a finalist at Mittelmoda International Lab and he presented his collection during Milano Fashion Week 2024.
