Le Colombophile Belge is a collection of garment studies rooted in Belgian pigeon-keeping culture. Domestic materials are transformed into symbolic forms that balance protection and vulnerability, drawing on ritual, memory, and the idea of home as something carried rather than fixed.
The collection is inspired by a family history of pigeon keeping, a Belgian tradition that has left a lasting influence on the designer. Memory, Belgian culture, and its surrealist undercurrent form the foundation of the work, with the Carnival of Binche serving as a direct expression of all three.
Repurposed and deadstock fabrics including cotton, linen, denim, mohair, alpaca wool, felt, silk, leather, feathers, and ribbons. Textile experimentation and knitting create layered surfaces where structure and softness meet, with each material choice motivated as much by memory as by craftsmanship.
