mOTHERlandS is a collection exploring identity, migration, and belonging through the history of Turks in Bulgaria during the 1980s. Through layered silhouettes, contrasting textures, and emotional construction, the garments reflect memory, resilience, and the search for freedom beyond imposed labels.
The collection is inspired by family history and the forced assimilation of the Turkish minority in Bulgaria. It questions nationality, identity, and borders, transforming historical trauma into contemporary fashion. Clothing becomes a medium for remembrance, resistance, and human connection.
Upcycled and deadstock fabrics including cotton, wool, polyester, and leather. The collection combines structured and durable textiles with hand-finishing, draping, and experimental surface manipulation to create tension between strength and vulnerability, while emphasizing sustainability and material reuse.
