Globalisation Kids
“GLOBALISATION KIDS” interweaves fashion with cultural identity, resisting the bland allure of homogenisation. It challenges uniformity through designs that celebrate individuality and cultural diversity, portraying a narrative of hybrid identities amidst global sameness. Each piece is a canvas depicting the vibrant clash of heritage and modernity. In difference lies power.
Birthed from Werner Sombart’s idea that fashion is the cherished offspring of capitalism, “GLOBALISATION KIDS” delves into fashion’s role in cultural homogenisation. Influenced by Martin Parr, Joseph Beuys and Christo & Jeanne-Claude, the capsule seeks to showcase art as a sensitisation tool for cultural authenticity amid global uniformity.
Each garment is created to highlight its unique story and the beauty of human “imperfection” embedded in handcrafting. Therefore, the capsule features sustainable textiles, deadstock fabrics, and the reinvention of pre-existing garments. This choice transcends environmental sustainability; these materials narrate stories of identity reconstruction and renewal in a globalized milieu.
