His collection is based on the exploration of his childhood: “My parents used to take me to temples when I was little. To be honest, I didn’t enjoy it a lot, but the colourful decorations of the temple, and the smoke surrounding me still remain very clear in my memory”.
“After I moved to Japan, my parents got divorced. Therefore, the memories we spent together in the temple became very precious to me. I also feel shame that many Chinese cultures are disappearing, that’s why I chose this theme to let more people get to know them”.
He used horsehair to express the flowing of incense, which is transparent and soft but can keep its shape by itself. He also used second-hand kimono fabrics to make my collection have more meaning.
