Marinero
Fashion manufactured by rain. Marinero is designed with the idea of creating dialogue between adaptive materials and the environment. The concept of the textile design comes from biomimicry, 2D elemental forms that unravel into complex 3D shapes. I am inspired by the natural slow process of growing plants and flowers.
The origin of the project comes from childhood memories. My grandparents are work migrants from the south of Spain and I am inspired by their journey full of love and determination. Marinero comes from a song that my grandfather used to sing, working as a fisherman in Andalucia.
Smart material adaptive filaments have been developed in collaboration with Aitex Textile Institute Alcoy. Seaweed materials have been used to create yarns, but also to dye Marinero prototypes using the nano nebulization technology from Care Applications. The woven and knitted textiles have been developed in collaboration with TextielLab Tilburg.
