It is a project that explores the idea of corporeality and reflects the clash between the human body and the environment. A confrontation between the natural and technology. A tribute to the human spirit through light that is inevitably swallowed by darkness. Speed, love, strength, air, earth, cold, heat, metal.
The main inspiration is Chris Burden’s performance “Icarus” in which he uses his body juxtaposed against other hostile elements creating a tension between human materiality and the brutality of fire. He has interpreted it as a relationship between human being/technology and man’s dream of flight.
He puts a lot of emphasis on the textile manipulations. The fabrics were found in traces, torn, unravelled and sewn again, sanded, nibbled, creased and stitched many times, bleached and re-dyed. The use of elements such as hair, feathers, reflective materials and metal also stand out.
