In Her Shoes
In Her Shoes is a fashion collection exploring the transition from girlhood to womanhood while reflecting a societal shift in which adolescence is being “lost” as a vital period for growth and self-discovery. The collection celebrates becoming through emotional expression, movement, and transformation.
Inspired by coming-of-age experiences, particularly the act of exploring a mother’s wardrobe, as well as imagery by photographers Julie Greve, Lisbet Nielsen, and Karen Marshall. The films The Virgin Suicides and Mermaids also inform the project. Themes of femininity, youth, nostalgia, and self-expression shape the collection’s visual world.
Hand-dyed stockings, velvet devoré, hand-dyed silk linings, hand-dyed trims, repurposed sequined party tablecloths, deadstock hand-tinted leather, and buttons covered with matching stocking fabric. The materials were manipulated through dyeing, devoré burning, layering, and reconstruction to create atmospheric textures and delicate surfaces.
