A Post-Industrial Babylon is a project that explores the idea of a “contemporary flâneur”. Through observation of his immediate environment, the walker looks for ways in which art and fashion can create sustainable, experimental and avant-garde clothing.
The “flâneur” is passionate about the symbiosis between the rural and industrial environment that has marked the history of prolific Basque cities and the organic dialogue between “work” and “environment” of artists such as Chillida. This leads him to explore an exacerbated corporeality with which to fabricate his “second skin”.
The Basque latxa sheep’s fleece, rescued from seasonal burning, is embroidered in the form of “Toile de Jouy” on neoprene and woollen cloth. The interior hemp structures support the modelling of second-hand nappa and fur garments to draw the silhouette of a sustainable future.
