The project mixes different techniques of pattern making and fabric manipulation. Transbordamento (overflowing) shows how the body, while dancing the Darkness (Butoh) during the movie Cherry Blossoms (2008) moves from west to east, physical to non-physical plan, one to several pieces, hidden emotions and feelings to overflowed ones.
Transbordamento (overflowing) is based on the movie Cherry Blossoms (2008), specially on the scenes in which the main characters reunite in front of the Mount Fuji dancing Butoh, a contemporary Japanese dance. It was inspired by their movements and how a Butoh dancer relates to his own body through darkness.
Rudi’s transition to non-physical plan is represented by burnt dyed silk (a metaphor for “ash”, a Butoh step dance; silk translates East, a fabric widely used in Japan). For facial expression marks, pronounced by white powder (Butoh makeup), was used wet pleated velvet.
