This collection focuses on bags and body ornaments as a medium to study ways of wearing and expressing the hidden inner and unseen aspects of a human being. In the last exhibition, I collaborated with a dancer. He danced beautifully with my works. It was very interesting to see static works moving with him dynamically. So I wanted to make body ornaments and bags that can be worn on the body, revealing different movements at various angles.
Architecture always inspires me. For this collection, I was mainly inspired by the works of Frank O. Gehry and Santiago Calatrava. Modern dance and different kinds of choreography inspire me very much as well.
I use vegetable tanned leather, produced in a nature-friendly process. Before I start working with the leather, I try many times with paper(10:1size) to reduce possible errors. When I cut, I adjust the placement of pattern several times to minimize the discarded leather. Because I hope sincerely that every products could be produced and consumed in a more environmentally friendly way.
