A series of modular garments exploring the relationship between body, gender, and silhouette. Using adjustable systems such as zippers, cords, and thermowelded structures, the pieces transform in shape and function. Technical materials are manipulated to create fluid, androgynous forms that challenge fixed modes of dressing and conventional garment construction.
Inspired by the life of Thomasine Hall and the androgynous figures of glam rock, the project examines shifting gender identities through dress. Drawing on historical and visual references, it proposes clothing as a mutable form that negotiates presence, identity, and embodiment beyond fixed masculine and feminine codes.
The collection uses technical fabrics such as ripstop, nylon, and bonded textiles, recontextualized through unconventional applications. YKK AiryString® zippers introduce modularity, replacing structural elements and enabling transformation. Thermowelding techniques and material contrasts, such as sequins used as lining, create tension between function, ornament, and discomfort, challenging traditional hierarchies of material use.
