James Clark, senior lecturer and subject leader at London College of Fashion, will be at III Forum BIAAF.
James Clark is a senior lecturer and subject leader (product management) at London College of Fashion, UAL. As acting Course Leader of the Executive MBA (Fashion) he teaches fashion merchandising, supply chain management and entrepreneurship at the Fashion Business School. On behalf of UAL he has given lectures and workshops in China, South Korea, India, Russia, Panamá and more recently at LIM College, UAL’s partner institution.
Prior to joining UAL, he worked within the UK fashion retail industry including substantive positions with Debenhams, Coats Viyella and House of Fraser. This practical experience blended with his academic research interests enables James to consult within industry and has published Fashion Merchandising: Principles and Practice, the first academic resource aimed at European fashion retail undergraduates and early career merchandisers.
At the III Forum BIAAF he will talk about the opportunities that the digital environment offers in fashion merchandising, especially how the use of big data makes easier for the product manager the decision of what product to chose, how many to buy, and when to put it in sale to maximise sales. Thanks to the analysis of these gigantic data bases, merchandisers can predict trends, detect patterns and identify the needs of the costumers, offering them what they want before they know themselves.
Big data refers to the ability to analyse vast quantities of information, analyse it and draw instant conclusions from it.Business to consumer (B2C) relationships could become personal where dreams can, via big data, become a reality.
