DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK

I feel it is all due to subjective perspective that we see things differently.Positive or negative, evil or kind, bright or gloomy, black or white…The world does not have colors until we see them. This collection attemps to give beholders an interactive experience. The colors merge and change as the garments are observed from different angles.

INSPIRATION

Tabula Scalata was a popular art form since the 16th Century, where two or sometimes three images can be combined into one art piece. When beheld from different angles, the artwork shows different images. It could also give an illusion of animation as one walks past the artwork. This collection also takes “Cloisonne” as a relevant inspiration.Artisans attach gold metal wires on vases to line out decorative patterns, and then fill colors bwtween the wires.

MATERIALS USED

Surface fabric is burlap made of 100% jute.Lining and facing are made of 100% linen. Yarns recycled from thrifty shop scarves and sweaters are used along with small amount of leftover yarn at home.Natural latex from rubber tree is used to stiffener and adhesive on the burlap.
