DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK
Amalur is a claim on women and society. The inspiration comes from Yoko Ono’s Cut Piece performance, mixing it with Basque culture and crafts. Sustainability is also present through patchwork of tailoring and shirting remnants and the reuse of fabrics.
INSPIRATION
The collection is inspired by Yoko Ono’s Cut Piece performance that shows the vulnerability of the woman’s body, thus questioning whether overprotection and concealment would make us feel more secure. This is mixed with Basque mythology and traditions as an example of equality and respect.
MATERIALS USED
Regarding fabrics, patchworks from tailor’s remnants are mixed with organic fabrics and digital prints based in traditional Basque costumes and the Zugarramurdi caves.Manioulations as burned or embroidered details, vindicate the situatuon of women and climate change.
