Is Clothing Performative?
DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK
The recent Project “Performativity of things” consists of a series of transparent silicone- clothing-moulds. Its an interdisciplinary examination of the concept of performativity related to clothing in the fashion context. The performative potential of clothing caused by the intimate relationship between Body and Dress is the central focus of the artistic research.
INSPIRATION
In general it is somehow the inbetween. These In-between zones are the spaces were there is so much to discover. Especially diving deeper into the space between Art and Fashion and to study the relationship of these fluent concepts through the examination and realisation of clothing.
MATERIALS USED
The principal material of the series is silicone. It is rubbery, shiny, resistant, water-repellent and soft. The most important characteristic for the series is that the silicone is transparent and liquid (during the handling process). A non-textile material that can represent and/or become a garment with its fine details and textile-structure.
