No Strings Attached
DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK
No Strings Attached means that there is not the slightest intention of creating emotional bonds in our society nowadays. It represents my reply to the beauty canons that most of society demands. This phenomenon usually leads to discrimination and a sense of discomfort.
INSPIRATION
Frankenstein Monster or the Phantom of the Opera. This led me to study Victorian costumes, particularly corsets and detachable collars which recall to a physical oppression by forcing to a fixed posture we want to get free from, resulting in an “a priori” refusal.
MATERIALS USED
Every garment fits out a corset deliberately too large, tailored in the same fabric as the garments. The fabrics are chosen to easily fit the garment identity: waterproof fabric for the parka, pinstripe for the suit and poplin for shirts and collars.
